today i went on a ring making workshop, and i have to say it was the best day ever!!!

i made 2 rings which are completely original and i now feel totally confident to make more and be more adventurous! now all i need is my own ring mandrel and i'll be away,

Lesley is the best teacher ever, she was so patient with us and very helpful, giving excellent advice and useful tips for future projects, i would highly recommend anyone to go on any of lesley's many courses, you will be hooked, i'm now confused as to which course to do next!!

well what do you think?

i was asked last week to make a set of jewellery in shades of red for a party that the lady was going to, this is what i came up with, and happily, she loved it!

i got the beads in the beads cellar in chichester which is owned and run by the lovely lesley messam, she has so many beads down there that i feel like a little kid in a sweet shop, i love it and would quite happily live there if i could

well lesley as promised some pictures of the things i have made so far! the yellow and blue are a bracelet on memory wire and the other is a longer length seed bead necklace with the large focal bead from your shop,

i've been at it again, i've really got into the polymer clay, especially this metallic shimmery glittery type. the effect is beautiful especially out in this beautiful sunshine we've been having,
You will see also that i like using the gold powder over the clay, it is wonderfully shiny and has a lovely gold tone to it out in the light of the sun,
i also put a large blue topaz in this one and then baked it with the clay, i may try it again although next time in a lighter colour so you will ahve ore of a sparkle to the stone
i love the effect of the raised gold butterfly against the dark glittery green of the flower.
well as usual i'd love to know what you think!!

well it's been a few days since my last post so i thought i had better show you all what i've been doing.
i've been making these and other things from polymer clay, i really enjoyed working with it and love the fact that if you make something and it goes wrong then at least you can roll it back up and start again.
i made the flower as a get well present for my neighbour who has been feeling really unwell recently and i wanted to cheer her up, i put on a sterling silver o ring and then onto a sterling silver snake chain.
i love the heart because i just love gold things, i'm going to wear it myself on my next evening out. it is actually white polymer clay but i painted it with gold powder before i baked it then varnished it after it had cooled down.
i like working with the metallic polymer clay but the etallic doesn't really show till it's baked and polished, the gold powder really brings things to life, i was surprised at just how nice it came out.
well........... what do you think
i would also like to thank those of you who have been leaving comments as i really appreciate the feedback. xxx

well i was asked by lesley what happened to the milliefiori beads she picked out for me to use and here they are, i was not sure what to do with them to begin with i was also not sure how to use the bugle beads the she picked out, however i'm quite pleased with the finished bracelet,
i like the bright colours used in this as i normally work with more muted colours.
so lesley just for you, what do you think?

hello all, well here i am again, i made this necklace using tigertail as my necklace material then i put a crystal rondelle as the start to thr drops, i used a large black bollywood bead and then crystals, seed and glass beads underneath, it is a longer length necklace and looks beautiful on, the beads were chosen by lesley messam from her shop 'the bead cellar' which is in chichester on the ground floor of david messams tool shop,

i love going in her shop, it's like a cavern of sparkly pretty things, you would need a whole day to properly look at all the wonderful things in there and lesley is such a lovely lady, she will help with any questions, techniques or colours you might have.

Also picked by lesley were some blue beads, which i put into this necklace, i used wire for each of the beads, cutting it longer than the beads then wrapping the wire to make a loop at one end then threading the beads and finally wrapping the other end to form the other loop, i then joined them all together with o rings
also in the beads she chose was this large gemstone which is beautiful i made this bracelet very similar to the purple one i made during last week,
well what do you think?

Wednesday, 8 April 2009

I made this using amethyst chips, swarovski crystal and a huge amethyst bead which really it the prettiest bead i've seen for a while, i also used a smaller faceted amethyst. i've attached the big amethyst to the toggle to make it more of a feature and put the smaller amethyst next to it with a small piece of chain with swarovski crystals dangling from the chain, i'm so pleased with this one that i'm keeping it for myself.

my little boy said it's very pretty, what do you think?

I then sat my 2 kidlets down and made them these bracelets my little boy decided that he wanted a green bracelet and my little girl kept grabbing the reds, so i guessed that's the colour she wanted, she is so pleased with hers that she keeps kissing it and looking at it, my little boy won't take his off, it's so simple to make that my little boy enjoyed helping me to thread the beads.

well here we are again, on saturday i challenged another friend of my to buy beads, these are some of the beads that she bought,
the pink bracelet at the top are glass lampwork beads with freshwater pearls and the ain focal bead is a bollywood bead which come in a variety of different colours and sizes
The necklace is made of plated brown twine with a focal bead which is a kakaii nut, it is really tactile and you just want to keep touching it, it's really smooth and has a wounderful chocolate brown colour, underneath the nut there are 6 swarovski crystals in brown and pale gold, i love this piece and already have ideas for different ways to use these kakaii nuts,
So what do you think?

yesterday i challenged a friend of mine to go to lesley messams bead cellar with £20 and spend it all on beads and findings
this is what i made with some of the things she bought, i was surprised with just how much stuff she bought, i really enjoyed the challenge of what she'd bought, i liked the fact that i had no say on what colours or designs she bought.
when i go in to the bead cellar i look at the beads and colours that i like so it's nice to work with colours that i probably wouldn't have picked myself
let me know what you think

Tuesday, 31 March 2009

i made these earrings last night to go with the bracelet that i posted a couple of days ago, the lady who bought the bracelet wanted something to go with it and i thought that these would go well, what do you think?

i wrapped wire around the bottom bead which i thought would make them diffenet and unusual, i love the fact that even if i made something using the same beads on 2 things they would never turn out exactly the same, everything is original.
i made this necklace for my nan for mothers day, it is a sea opal drop on ribbon with a toggle clasp,
she likes things to be simple and because she is 86 the toggle clasp means that it is easier for her to put on herself.

Sunday, 29 March 2009

i really enjoyed making these it was a way of having my children with me even when i'm not with them plus they had fun putting there fingers in the clay, i have these attatched to a silver pandora necklace which i've been wearing a lot and had great comments about, i also made a heart for a friend with both her childrens fingerprints on, she loves it.

i am making a lot of beaded items at the moment and am loving it, i'll post the next piece i make on here for you all to see.

Saturday, 28 March 2009

hello me again, i made this bracelet using wire bead caps and these beautiful beads, they are lovely and have a good weight to them, i wrapped the wire around on itself to make the loops for joining them together,

i find it really theraputic to make things out of bits and bobs in my box,

sometimes my brain goes into idea overload and i have so many ideas going on in my head that i wish i had more time in the day to make everything, i've started to keep a note book now with ideas in so i don't forget,

anyway let me know what you think

xx

hi all, this is my first ever blog, scary

Firstly a bit about me, i started making jewellery when i was 11 and didn't have much success, i didn't know the techniques back then, but now 16 years later i have the knowledge, i make jewellery in my spare time when i'm not looking after my 2 beautiful children (4 and 19 months) or doing the housework, i have a lovely husband who i've been married to for 9 and a half years. We also have a cat called daisy.

i use jewellery making as a calm down in the evenings.

most of the jewellery i make is bead and wire work but after an excellent course with lesley messam i have also taken up art clay silver, which i am really loving.

i have designed my own website burytreasure.synthasite.com which keeps me busy updating it with new pictures, so check that out as well as my blog

anyway i hope you like what i do, if you do then follow my blog and feel free to leave comments
